Earlier this month I was in Tucson, Arizona where I was able to take a hike around Saguaro National Park (East) through the Rincon Mountains, part of the Sonoran Desert. Southern Arizona is home to the Giant Saguaro Cactus, the largest type of cactus in the country. A token of the Southwest, they can grow up to 20 feet tall and live up to 200 years. This was my first time shooting in this part of the country and I wasn’t sure what to expect of the desert. At first it felt very bleak and barren but then I started to see its colors and great compositions. My favorite part was the vast expanses of “cactus forests” stretching all the way to the towering mountains in the distance.
