Leslie Von Pless
Though I currently reside in Brooklyn, I am a very proud Upstate New Yorker. I grew up in Syracuse, NY and attended Fredonia State University in Western New York, where I received a BS in Digital Video Production.
By day I am the video producer for Lambda Legal, a national LGBT legal rights organization. I shoot, edit and distribute short documentaries, branded content, campaign, promo, and explainer videos. I also do editorial and event photography, photo editing, and generally get involved in all things visual.
All other times I freelance, working with other well-meaning organizations, and do my own independent film and photography work. I am an outdoor enthusiast; I love the Northeast and care deeply about the land, water, and wilderness of this region. I do landscape and nature photography and my independent films lean towards environmental and conservation topics. Along with my mom, a painter, I run Von Pless Landscapes. We exhibit our work with the Central New York Art Guild and the Cooperstown Art Association.
Most recently, my short film created for Lambda Legal, Flying Solo, won the Grand Jury Award for Documentary Short at Outfest: The Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival and my independent short film, The Count, won the Best Amateur Film Award at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival.
All in all, I create simple, moving stories about remarkable people and important issues.
