I’ve been going through my backlog of photos taken over the summer months. These are a few shots I took of sunrises and sunsets over the Long Island Sound in Port Jefferson and Mt. Sinai Harbor, NY.

UPPER EAST: Sailing Boston Harbor and Cape Ann
Over Memorial Day Weekend I was in Massachusetts to go out on the water with my family. We went sailing in Boston Harbor and Quincy Bay, then took a tour of the lighthouses on Cape Ann through Sandy Bay and Ipswich Bay via Gloucester. We stopped for a short time in Salem on the drive up, where I was able to grab a few shots of Salem Harbor and the gardens at the House of 7 Gables. This was the second time I’ve been to Gloucester, a lobster and fishing town most famous for its role in the movie “The Perfect Storm.” My favorite part of shooting in Gloucester is the bold, vibrant colors of the boats, docks and buoys.
UPPER EAST: Cedar Beach on the Long Island Sound
Over the weekend I went to Cedar Beach on Long Island near Port Jefferson, NY to put my kayak in for the first paddle of the season. I frequent this beach more than any other on LI and I like to kayak around the harbor in between the docked boats. One of my favorite things about the North Shore is how different it is from the South Shore – the beaches are rocky, there are cliffs, and the water is very clear and usually relatively calm.
